Cream of Tomato Soup

Tomatoes are filled with nutrients and antioxidants that help combat several diseases as well as keep your health in good shape.  Try out this home made soup and reap the benefits of tomatoes as a family.


1 kg of Tomatoes
2 Onions finely chopped
2 Carrots finely chopped
1 spoon of Jaggery powder
1/2 tablespoon of nutmeg powder
1 tablespoon of arrow root powder
1 ounce of rice flour
1 ounce of butter
4 tablespoons of thick milk cream
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tablespoon of pepper
Bread fried peices
salt to taste

Method of preparation:

Slice vegetables.  Heat pressure cooker.  Add butter.  Fry onions and carrots.  Remove from fire and stir in rice flour.  Add tomatoes, nutmeg, jaggery, salt, pepper and 1/2 glass of water.  Cook for 5 minutes.  Allow pressure to reduce at room temperature.  To thicken, combine arrow root with milk.  Add to soup and boil.  Place teaspoonful of cream in each bowl of soup.  

Garnish with croutons (fried pieces of bread) for your cold winter evening.  Healthy beverage ready for your family.
